Ornament Swap

I recently took part in an ornament swap organised by New Zealand Handmade - my swap partner was in the UK - so I had to get on to it quickly! This is what I sent her. My photo does NOT do this justice but I had to take the pic in a hurry, in order to get it in the mail to arrive in the UK before Christmas!
The ornament is made using the First Edition specialty paper - I love this stuff - it's thinner than normal DSP, so more manoeuverable (I have NO idea if that is spelt right!!) - perfect for the rosette. (I'm loving these rosettes too!! they take AGES to score but are so worth it in the end!)
The idea came from the awesomely talented Kimberley Van Diepen - and I didn't change much - added the Cherry Cobbler ribbon rather than the vanilla. You can't see it very well but the scallop square is covered in dazzlng diamonds, and the edge of the rosette is dipped in (contraband) gold glitter - it's so blingy in real life! love it!

I packaged it in a pizza box using retired jolly holiday paper, and the perfect punches stamp set with more bling.
I love the ornament, but wish my partner had been in NZ so I could have had a bit more time to play and jazz it up - but I hope she likes it!
I'll show you what I received in return tomorrow. It's SO cute! Not paper - but felt :)

I have been going through an ornament phase - I have seen a WHOLE heap of ideas on pinterest that i want to re-create, and a friend has put up her Christmas tree for the first time in a LOT of years, so she needed new decorations - hello!! She just became my guinea pig lol.

This is another CASE of Kimberley Van Diepen - like the ornament I made for a swap. It uses black instead of Cherry Cobbler, and I think I like this better. It's missing ribbon but I don't think that matters :)

I am loving the stitched stockings stamp set and matching punch. I am also loving pinterest - although I would NOT recommend it if you get easily distracted! (that's why my house is a pigsty and my Christmas shopping still is nowhere near done!! - you start looking and then two hours later - whoops!) Anyway.... I found this card on pinterest - and thought how cute it would be to re-create using the stitched stocking set. So I did. The light on this photo is rubbish, but in real life it loks really cute. I'll try and get a better shot - I have LOTS of pics to take of other CASEs from pinterest, so I should get on to that!

Paper Frame

The very talented Julia Leece showed us these frames at the Auckland big day out. I was having a play and the little girl I was looking after decided she wanted a go too!
Well, I got distracted, so mine isn't decorated - but here is P's flash frame :)

This uses a few retired items (she has free rein in my retired stash!) - but the cardstock is Not Quite Navy -I like the look of it. My version used Basic Black - I was going for the classic elegant look. I must finish it - and steal that ribbon idea! Am loving the faux bow look at the moment :)

this was CASEd but I'm sorry I can't remember whose it was - but the original used DSP.
I wanted to do this for my second swap, but the only current DSP I had was Just Add Cake, and it just looked wrong, so I made my own using Vintage Vogue.
I love this card! It feels like spring!
the butterflies are made using soda cans, and I have a BAG full ready to be made into who knows what!! I have a few mobiles hanging around too, and I'll show you those another day.

are blowing in the wind.... I am obsessed with making windmills (or pinwheels) at the moment. I made a whole heap from (now retired) Play Date and Celebrations DSP to make a mobile for Connor's room - which looks awesome if I do say so myself, so I must take a photo and put it on here. but anyway.... I wanted to use them on my swaps so this is what I ended up with.
The windmill is made using Just Add Cake DSP - start with a 2 1/2" square and go here for directions. Simple as :)

I can't believe it has taken me SO long to give them a go! They look really tricky, and I HATE fiddling round with bits trying to get them to stick in the right place, but then .. Heather Summers to the rescue again! (This woman is a LEGEND! honestly!!) - there is a trick to these flowers - and it is twine!! So..... after watching this little gem of a video, this is one of the make and takes we did at my catalogue launch today.
The card itself is a copy of one I saw on the sample boards at the Big Day Out Product day in Auckland last weekend, and uses the free set we got Under the Big Top. This is not a set I would normally choose, but seeing the cute things we did with it (and no I wont be showing those - they need to be a surprise for the others who haven't had their regional yet!) I kinda like it! And I LOVE this card!
The rosette uses the Melon Mambo Designer Series paper stack - love those papers!!

Just kidding - but look what happens when you are in the middle of cooking your lunch, and someone posts in a forum that the new catalogue is available for demonstrators to see online. Well, obviously I had to go and see . . . . and well, lunch was forgotten!! until all of a sudden.... what's that smell???? oops!!

On the bright side - it was SO worth making another batch of cheese on toast!! This catalogue is gorgeous!! I am so excited to share it with all my customers come September 1st.

Here's another project from my kid classes. Uses mostly retired product, but looks so good!

On a related note: how is it kids can look at my version (it's green and brown and nicely colour-cooirdinated thank you very much!!) and then look through my retired DSP stash for a colour combo of their own and think "hmm.. purple (rich razzleberry from the cottage wall paper), red (real red cardstock for the middle butterfly) and orange (only orange patterns pack) - with a celery ribbon (the only option!!) and ...... a blue button (non-SU!) - yeah that'll look AWESOME!!!" It hurt my eyes, hence no photo, but you know what?? She was SO proud of it, so who am I to judge?? :)

It is a double sided pendant - made with a washer.

Yep - a typical hardware store washer.

It's covered with Designer Series paper, and then covered in crystal effects. Leave to dry for a good 48 hours, then stick it on a string.

Flower brooches

Because of my HUGE absence, I'm still catching up on showing some of last years projects. This is a funky brooch made using fabric and the Flower Folds XL die for the Big Shot. The colurs turned out quite fitting really, as I ended up donating this to "Handmade for Christchurch" which is a group of crafty chickies who decided to use their gifts to raise mney for the earthquake fund. They raised over $16000. Amazing huh? Check out the facebook page if you are interested.

How cute is this little fella?? This is another project copied from Bronwyn Eastley.
I know I copy a lot - but that's part of the beauty of Stampin' Up! It has such amazingly generous demos who share their ideas and expertise - and I am just not creative enough to think of these things on my own!
This is made using really thin cork sheets (yes, our punches cut cork!) and is made into a magnet - I now have quite a few stuck to my fridge!

Vintage vogue class

These are the cards we made at the Vintage Vogue class I held earlier this month.
I CASE'd most of these cards a LONG time ago - and I'm sorry but I can't remember who they were from. (If I know I'll state it)

This card uses Sahara Sand as a base - with Bravo Burgundy. So elegant. Love the two score lines - they just add a little something.

This was a swap from Convention 2010 - vintage and all the sponging and antiquing isn;t really my thing, but I love this colour combo.

So simple but so effective I think

Not a card, but a piece of art in a simple IKEA frame - am going to paint the frame white, but for now, it looks ok :)

It's been a long time.. hopefully there are still some people out there that check my blog!! If not - well I'll have to rustle up some viewers!!
It's school holidays, and I've got kids classes on. I have two themes going - "butterflies" and "punch art". The kids I've had so far are REALLY creative, and have done an awesome job! I forgot to get pics, but have more classes next week, so will try and remember.
Here's a peek at one of the projects we are making in the buttefly class.

This is a keyring made from felt put through the Big Shot with the Beautiful butterflies die. Yep - the Big Shot cuts felt. It cuts cork and soft drink cans too - but more on that later!

I blatantly stole this idea from Bronwyn Eastley - an incredibly talented Aussie demo - along with a few other ideas too! But those I'll post another day!

I’m not sure what has been going on with my computer, but since I moved house, my computer and blogger are no longer friends :( I can’t post anything, or even look at other people’s awesome creations. I am starting to get withdrawal!! I am writing this at my parents place, to see if it will work! If it does, I will put all my pics on a USB drive, and commandeer their computer for a while and schedule some posts in advance.

I have the photos of my convention swaps (plus the swaps I received in return – but I’ll only post some because I have HEAPS!!) – but no photos of the actual convention cos I was having WAY too much fun to take pics!! Plus some new creations with new catty product.

That won’t help with looking at other people’s work, but at least I can keep working on that!!

Jordan designed this page all by herself. She decided it needed a manly feel to it, but mum wouldn't let her change the colours completely, so she raided my stamp sets to find something to make it less girly! Trucks are about as manly as you can get, but how to incorporate them into a wedding scrapbook??? Add love hearts of course!! The Loads of Love set has the hearts to be added to the back of the truck, so that was perfect! - Although Jordan did add dimension with some heart stickers of her own.

The wording says it all. This layout uses the gorgeous medallion stamp to add a background without taking away from the picture. This scrapbook is 8x8, but most times I cheated and did a 6x6 and thens tuck it to the middle of the page!

Happy Scrapbooking Month!

May is Scrapbooking Month, and for me that is very scary!! I am NOT a scrapbooker, but recently had reason to become one very quickly!
My daughter's father got married and Jordan was a bridesmaid, and wanted to do a scrapbook for the couple as her wedding present to them.
"Mum, you have lots of stuff from Stampin' Up! You can help me and it will be fabulous!"
Well, much as I appreciate her (misplaced) absolute faith in my creative ability, I panicked, and of course that led to much blog surfing to find some help!
Eventually we settled on a Simply Scrappin' Kit (Sweet Nothings) and blissfully ignored the fact that it didn't go with their wedding colours (the bridesmaids wore black - we don't have black and white DSP - I would love some SU! if you are listening!!) - we figured dad would love it regardless, and if not - tough!!
So, please excuse the blur - some is on purpose to obscure faces - other times it is just coz I suck at taking photos, and I was in a particular hurry with this one!
This layout is taken from a UStamp online class I did - and was originally a digital scrap page. We just took the layout and re-created it in paper. The ribbon is not SU! but everything else is.
There were twenty pages in all - I'll share them all with you throughout this month.

Zindorf-inspired with Helen

At training way back in January, Helen brought this really cool technique for us all to play with. It is Michelle Zindorf inspired, and basically involves rubbing ink all over the cardstock in a really messy way - which for some people (Helen, and especially Michelle herself, judging by her blog) results in an amazing piece of art. Me? I just end up with messy fingers and an anal retentive urge to make everything symmetrical and even!! This is my first go!!
Sharlene and I went back to her place and had another go the next day - and I liked my efforts there only marginally better - but we both at least were feeling as out of depth as each other!

Clean and simple is definitely my thing! I will stick to admiring Zindorf inspired art from afar, wishing I was that talented and less rigid in my creativity :)

ESAD Mothers Day Blog Hop

What is ESAD you say?

ESAD stands for Extra Special Australian (and New Zealand) Demonstrators and it is an online group just for Australian and New Zealand demonstrators for Stampin’ Up!

We so love what we do and not only do we love to share it with our customers, friends and wonderful blog visitors but we share our love for what we do with each other as Demonstrators. We run swaps, challenges, tutorials, product know how and cyberstamps and we are always there to help and support each other when its needed.

Maybe you just joined me from Wendy's blog, but if not, stress not - this is a circular hop, you can join anywhere, and find your way round the whole loop.

This hop is to showcase the fantastic things you can do with the Big Shot for Mother's Day - and this is the card I will be giving my mum :)

This was originally an idea from Patty Bennet - but it has grown like topsy, and I cant remember where I saw the petticoat first - but it adds a cutesy element that I like :)

The dress is a scallop circle die, and then the sides are cut out to make the dress shape. (just eyeball it - or if you plan on making lots, do a template using the backing of a DSP pack). This DSP is Bella Rose - a favourite of mine that I have been neglecting since we got Cottage Wall! The bottom of the dress uses the eyelet punch, and has been crimped to make the petticoat.

The riding hood red mat has been embossed using the polka dot embossing folder (LOVE it!!) to give a bit of texture.

The second card I have made also uses the scallop circle die, and is aimed at a brand new mum! How cute is this little baby carriage?

To make a card that opens using you scallop circle, start with an A5 folded in half like you normally would, then lay it on your die missing some of the scallops with the folded edge - the scallop circle die can cut about 6 layers at a time - maybe more - I have tried 6 and it worked fine! Haven't needed more than that yet!

I love this card! It is a total CASE of one done by Alisa Tilsner from Aussie - but when have I ever let that stop me??? :)
I did drop one flower, and used cloisonne instead of cardstock, so obviously it is TOTALLY different! (and her brads are straight!!)

A note on CASE-ing:
CASE stands for Copy and Share Everything, and I personally would not be able to create ANYthing if this was not acceptable. I am not colour co-ordinated, and have no concept of design and space, so please - if I CASE you - take it as a compliment. :) I ALWAYS credit (not necessarily with a link, but at least the full name and country if possible) - and if I dont know I will say so, but will still acknowledge it was not my original.

It took a blog hop to get me back on here - I need deadlines! What can i say! :)

OK.. so I have my Big Shot, and i have been playing with that A LOT, but I want to save that for after the blog hop!So this is what I was doing before!!
This uses a technique called "Faux Cloisonne", and there is an awesome tutorial on Splitcoast here

well, my last few weeks of 2009 were a bit of a write off really! lol
Personally, my life was heading in a huge downward spiral. Stamping wise, not much better! I had all sorts of gifty things to show you, and my camera was not playing the game! I have lost all the photos - but I will take them again, and will definitely post the projects. Just not in time for Christmas! lol
On the bright side, 2009 is over, and it's a new year! New beginnings are all good! I intend to make the most of this year - stepping outside my comfort zone! In fact - one way of doing that is putting my pic up on here finally!! Took some playing around with my cell phone! It's hard to take a photo of yourself!! I will get someone else to take a better one sometime soon, and replace it, but until then, have moved my comfort zone circle a couple inches wider!! lol

My goodness - I cannot believe I have missed two days again!!
Life is madness around here at the moment!
It's my last day at work for the year tomorrow, and we have been spending the last few days organising farewell "things" for our principal. He is leaving after 14 years - amazing! And he will be sorely missed - but of course that means a MEGA party - or 7!! Well ok not 7, but we are up to number 4!!
The fold out scrapbook was his leaving card, and everyone signed it and then i stuck some pics in the spaces but then I had to write in the middle (cardmaking and calligraphy might SEEM like innocuous hobbies - but wait til someone finds out you do both!!) lol
Still - it will al be worth it tomorrow when he reads it :)

What does all this mean for you??? My camera is flat again, (also had Jordan's school prize giving last night so HAD to take photos of her getting her prize!!) and I haven't been able to take decent photos of the projects. However - this should all be remedied tomorrow :) Fingers crossed!

Day 11 - gift 11 - Emergency Card Kit

I cannot take credit for this - I am part of a secret sister swap group on splicoast, and this is one of the goodies I received from an angel on that swap. (obviously this uses product we cannot get over here, but the premise is the same).

An emergency card kit is a box full of cards, all ready to go, that can be used in an emergency!

These earrings use shrink plastic, cut out using the 1 1/4 inch circle punch. Punch holes using a 1/8 inch punch (retired) then bake in the oven according to instructions. When cool, join together and make some funky bling :)

Day 9 - gift 9 - a decorated vase

I love this idea. I have seen a few of these lately - and they all look stunning. And HOW simple!
Take one glass item (vase, drinking glass, bowl, etc etc) and the rub-ons of your choice. This one comes from the retired "hidden garden" set. Wipe the glass to remove any dust, then rub on your rub-on!
Done.
One simple yet gorgeous gift for someone very special. This one will be for me! I am going to fill it with m and m's or skittles and leave it on my coffee table. yummy :)

Day 8 - bit late! - fold out scrapbook

This project is the brain child of the amazing Makeesha. She did a tutorial on it for splitcoast. I adapted it using Parisian Breeze specialty paper, and Baja Breeze, Kraft and Chocolate Chip cardstock.
There are no pictures in mine - there wont be either! we are using it as a card for someone who is leaving work, so instead of pictures we are all writing on the pull out parts.
This pic only shows half the pull-out parts - we had already written on the rest, and I can't work out how to blur them!

Well, I have about 6 more projects ready to show you, but of course, the batteries in my camera went flat yesterday, and - where is the charger?? nowhere near the camera that's for sure!! And you'd think it would be in the box labelled "camera and ipod stuff" - but no! I mean, why would it be in there?????
Also - they are 3D projects, so don't fit onto my scanner very well! ;)

And I was doing so well with my daily postings! :(
Oh well - on the bright side you will get more than one a day on some days :)

However, I have now located the battery charger, and the batteries are getting juiced as you read- i will be back tomorrow with some more ideas on presents to make with SU! product :)

Day 7 - Gift 7 - Painted canvas

I LOVE this wheel!! I havent used it on a card yet!! lol - but I have made heaps of little canvases like this with my daughter and her friends.

This canvas is 4" x 8", and the neighbourhood wheel was inked up using Stazon ink. (you must use a permanent ink if you are going to colour in with water - "normal" ink runs)

This one was coloured using poster paints, but I did one a while ago using Stampin' Write markers. I have started another of those, and will post when it's finished. The marker ones take longer because they don't dry immediately on the canvas, so you have to be real careful not to smudge it all!

Sweet Treat Snowman

This is one of the awesome new products from the Summer Mini catalogue - the Sweet Treat Cups.
The cups come in packs of 12, and are so versatile! I have seen some amazing things done with them. As soon as I get myself sorted where I am staying, i will have a play, but in the mean time, this is what I did with them.
Actually it's two products, because I used the co-ordinating punch - the 1 3/4 inch circle. This is the exact size of the treat cups, and enables them to slide through perfectly.
The snowman body uses 1 3/4 and 1 3/8 cicle punches, and his head is 1 inch. His hat ( yes i knw, it's a bit big! but snowmen aren't meant to be fashionable!!) is the round tab punch. Sentiments escaped me, so I put one on the inside! :)
Usually when you put lollies in the sweet treat cups, you would make a sliding door - which i will do! This one, I have stuck down to the backing.
Am heading off now to sort all my stuff out so i have a bigger place than the bedside table to create!! lol

Day 6 – Gift 6 - Calendar

This is another CASE from the catalogue – this one from page 12. The template i got from Splitcoaststampers. Printed it onto Whisper White cardstock, three months per sheet. Then decorated the bottom using DSP or stamps – I used urban Garden DSP, and the sets Pocket Silhouettes, Upsy Daisy and Fifth Avenue Floral, with kiwi kiss, baja breeze and not quite navy ink. Bind together at the top and ta-da, a groovy calendar!

I have other calendars to share later this month, so check back :)

Day 5 - Gift 5 - Framed Picture

this was such a hard item to take a photo of! the light kept shining on the glass, and you could see the mess from my packing and all sorts! In the end I enlisted my daughter to be chief paper-holder-upper!! She stood behind me holding white copy paper over the top of my head, so the shine didn't reflect!! funny! :)

Anyway........ this is a direct CASE from the 2009-2010 IBC (page 74 to be exact) i just changed the quote. I love it! This is such a simple but gorgeous gift.
The frameneeds to be a "shadow-box" type though - I tried it flat first - not good :)

Day 4 - Gift 4 - altered file folder

Not a very thrilling picture this one! but opened up - it's much more exciting!! This idea came from Patty Bennett, who used files in the US catalogue to create these stunning stationery compendium thingys. Well, we don't have the files, but I thought manilla folders would work just as well! And they did!! Basically the bottom is folded up, and a couple extra folds added, cover it in DSP, add a velcro dot and some stationery and you're done!

This is covered in Parisian Breeze DSP -it's now retired :( I'm gonna miss that!

(my apologies here, as a lot of the items I show you over the next few weeks will use retired product - purely because I made these as actual gifts, and had to get them off before a certain date, and also because I like the finished product - but remember everything can be made using different patterns! These are just ideas!)

This pen comes from the other version below - these are so easy but effective. Just pull the barrel out from a pen, wrap the ink part in DSP,and slide back into the barrel. Voila, co-ordinating pens! how simple :)

This version uses Raspberry Tart DSP - this was my first one and I cut the paper too small! but my daughter loves it, so she now owns it!!

Day 3 - Gift 3 - Chocolate

Ok, so I know I said that I didn't want this to be about how to wrap or present gifts, but this is just too cute to not share :) Plus... it's chocolate!! hellooooooo?????
This idea came from Becky over at Inking Idaho, and is how I presented my chocolate to my swap sister from UStamp. Putting a band round the chocolate bars is such an easy way to co-ordinate little extras with the main gift. Here I have used Ski Slope DSP, and Riding Hood Red ribbon. The chocolate is Whittakers peanut slab - so many peanuts!! SOOOOO good ;)

Day 2 - gift 2 - Notepaper holder

This is a fabulous swap I received through UStamp.

The idea was to send a card, a handmade gift and some candy from your country.

So this is what I received. I think the notpaper holder itself is a bought one, ansd then Lorelie has removed ther cover, and created a brand new one of her own. I LOVE this paper. it;s so yummy! (Obviously a lot of this product is not available in NZ, but we can drool over it anyway!!)

And this is the card that I received. The snowflake is done using the two different size tag punches, and cutting them out as an outline. Check out the tutorial here

Day 1 - Gift 1 - Christmas Planner

This little treasure is the sneak peek I shared with you a few days ago.

I made these last year as gifts for the teacher aides at school - busy mums need planning time you know!

Of course, I forgot to photograph them then - but the tutorial was saved, and I saw another one a little while ago and thought - yes, they were fun! So we did these as one of our Stamp Club projects.

The base of the planner is a manilla folder with the bottom folded up, and then the sides folded in. Cover with pretty paper, stick in some lists, tie with ribbon - TA DA!! :)

Well, I was full of good intentions, and I did only miss one day! And in my defence, I was moving house - on my own! :)
Have moved out of my home, and am staying with my parents temporarily until I can find somewhere to live - So obviously I brought only the essentials - stamps, ink, paper, undies, deodorant, more stamps, catalogues, ..... priorities ladies!! :) you should have seen my dad's face!! their house now resembles a stamp sweat shop!! But hey - i have blog projects to finish, and workshops to prep for! very important!! :) who needs clean clothes??? ;)

Most people do some sort of twelve weeks of Christmas blog/email post – where they showcase twelve Christmas cards/projects. Well, I had very good intentions of doing that, and they all turned to custard :) I am in the middle of moving house, and lots of end of year “do’s” – work, daughter’s dancing and all sorts of other things that frankly just get in the way of stamping!!

So.. what I have decided to do, is slightly different, with no limit on how many - (or minimum for that matter, but I’m pretty sure I have hit at least twelve!!)

The twist is that instead of showing you cards or packaging, I am looking at gifts you can make with Stampin’ Up! products. So pictures, and scrapbooks, and notepads and … well you’ll just have to stop by daily in December and see what else I have found to make :)

She used the Big Shot and some sizzix dies for his antlers – but I don’t have those, and I’ve seen these done like this with two oval punches somewhere before, so I did too :) His legs are some random twine rope-y stuff :)

Ski trimmings

Ok, really bad title!! but it tells you what I used! This set is tree trimmings, which is only available for another week. :( And the paper is ski slope – also disappearing on the 30th. I love this paper – the snowflake patterns especially – I have hoarded some :)

This is a CASE – almost exact if I remember rightly – but I literally saw it loved it remembered it recreated it – then when i came back to find out whose it was, i couldn’t find them :( HATE that – not only because they deserve the credit, but also because usually if you like one thing, you’ll like the rest of their stuff – giving you more inspiration and CASEing opportunities ;) let me know if you recognise it!

Another card I thought I had already posted – not sure what is up with my search/label function! The only reason I have it is so that I can find stuff I have already posted!! hmmm…. back to the drawing board on that one!!

This card uses a favourite Christmas colour combo of mine – Kraft, red and white. Not a usual choice for Christmas, but I think Kraft makes really elegant cards. The set Seasons of Joy is my one and only main catalogue Christmas set – I LOVE it and it is so versatile you really don’t need any others. (although there are a few I want – I know I would just keep reaching for this one, so I am restraining myself!)

Heartfelt wreath

I thought I had posted this card before – can’t find it, but I;m still sure i did! Anyway…. this very funky card is a one layer card – because it uses only one layer – I KNOW who’da thunk it??

The wreath is made using the outline flower stamp from Heartfelt Thanks, stamped around a 1 3/8” punched circle mask. So easy and yet so effective.

I don’t know where the original idea came from – all my customers and regular blog readers (I have some right???) will know it certainly wasn’t me!! I never come up with anything completely original!! Why would ya?? the internet is a wonderful thing!! I do however like to give credit when possible so if this was your idea, please let me know :)

Baja Christmas

This is the second of the cards we did at my Christmas class. This originally started off chocolate chip with a white embossed greeting – but have NO idea where my choc chip card stock got to! So I changed it! I’ll post the original when I find the sample! Love this blue for Christmas – reminds me of the cold!! (also reminds me of tropical seas – go figure!!)

Normally I would have used the trees from Lovely as a Tree, but I wasn’t allowed to use that stamp set! So I was really challenged! But I do like this one :)

Well, this one was totally different from anything I was expecting!! You set the challenge to use Lovely as a Tree, and you expect everyone to use the row of trees, or the Christmas looking tree. But no! This card uses another image, that I have to say I tend to gloss over!! And how awesome do these colours look?? It’s tangerine tango with Chocolate Chip and vanilla (ooh, that sounds delicious!! now I’m hungry!!)

A couple of demos and I are doing a monthly swap. We choose a technique and a stamp set, and have to create cards using those. This month the stamp set was Lovely as a tree (my choice, coz I wanted to share the sparkly cards!!) and the technique was Split Negative.

This also uses the level one hostess set “best yet” – I love that set! i use it all the time in workshops. it has such a variety of sentiments. I also love these colours – not traditional Christmas colours, but they work :)

My daughter spent the better part of last week punching out cardstock – my lounge looked like a recycling bin! I have been taking online punch classes with Heather Summers (the punch goddess!!) and the last one focussed on holidays – Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween to be exact. So, Jordan had seen some of the ideas and wanted to have a go – so she did! We had bats and pumpkins and ghosts and witches and frankensteins all over the place! Then she got inspired and wanted to try her own idea! And this little devil was born! How great is that!!

M might be for markers, but it is also for Mat pack.

this little product is a fabulous invention!
It consists of a setting mat, a paper piercing pad, and a paper piercing template.
The "stabby thing" (lol an awl, or paper piercing tool) is available in the tool kit - otherwise a needle works just fine. Stick it in a piece of cork, and you are good to go!

the beauty of this set is that you an paper pierce any project, and know that your lines will always be straight.
You can also line up eyelet holes - jumbo or normal, or work out where your brads need to go to be straight.

Such a simple little thing, but so important for that professional finish.

and I couldn't choose, so am going to use them all!!

My first M is for .....
Markers.
Stampin' Up! Stampin' Write markers come in - you guessed it! - all 48 colours of the colour families, plus some of the neutrals too.
You can buy them individually, in colour families, or as a whole set of "many marvellous markers!"

Stampin' Write markers use the same ink as our ink pads, making them ideal for direct to rubber techniques. They have two ends - one fine, and one brush end. So you can colour or write in any colour to match your projects.

The brush end makes it so easy to get lots of colours on one image. Just colour direct on your rubber, and then "huff" and stamp.
Voila - multi-coloured images.

These markers can also be used as regular markers - stamp an outline image, and use them to colour in. The neutrals (especially sahara sand) are great for adding shadow and 3d effects.

They are tailor made for the spritzer - this gives a blowpen type effect - very cool!

so many possibilities and techniques to be used with the markers.
Such an easy way to get all the colours you want without the bulk of the ink pads.
So versatile.

Ok so i have to cheat again on this one!!
K is for .. Simply Scrappin' Kits. (SSK)

I LOVE these things!! You can do so much with them.
And even though they are called Simply SCRAPPIN' Kits - don't be put off if you are not a scrapbooker.
You can use these kits to make cards, boxes, all sorts - or you can be boring and do what it says in the name ;)
Actually you can probably do all three! In fact, I know you can!
Last year I made a 20 page 6x6 scrapbook, a few boxes and various cards (didn't think to count them all!) with *one* SSK. And I still had bits left over.
The ebauty of these kits is that they come with everything you need to create a stunning project.
They have textured 12 x 12 cardstock, 12 x 12 DSP, and self adhesive sticker embellishments, and - of course - it all co-ordinates with SU's other products!

I will be running a class later this year on the 20 page album - pictures will come when I can convince myself to cut the beautiful paper!! lol ;)

J is for the stamp a ma Jig :)

this is the coolest name for one of my most overlooked products.
The stamp a ma jig is a stamp positioner, which enables you (well, ok ME!) to place images and sentiments EXACTLY where you want them to go. They will be centred and straight! This amazing item is the Stampin' Up! storefront :)
It is so much more than *just* a catalogue. Yes it has the products in, with their prices, but on each and every page there are heaps of ideas to use in your paper crafting.

There are card and scrapbook page samples, 3d items - boxes and bags and gifts, off the page items, altered items - all sorts.

Catalogue mini launch

I held my belated mini launch on Sunday, and had a great group of ladies join me.

We made the mini handbags from this post in a variety of colours - I never think to take photos of them all together until after everyone leaves! Doh! Must work on that!

I have a couple of kits leftover - but they will get used up. They make gorgeous hostess gifts, so if you want to own one of these little beauties, give me a call and book a workshop :)
