Last but not least, here is the one and only black and white split negative card. This uses the Level Two hostess set Rustic Rooster. This one is especially clever as the split negative is done twice –once with the rooster and again with the French script.

This is the second split negative swap card. This uses upsy daisy, and the curly label punch.

Here is the first swap I received for the split negative challenge. Isn’t it stunning? You normally see this technique done using black and white, but I find it interesting that only one of us did :)

24/7 Split negative

This is my challenge card for the split negative challenge. This uses Friends 24/7 and the cherish is from Baroque Motifs. This is such a fun technique. Normally I would have used the trees from Lovely as a Tree, but I wasn’t allowed to use that stamp set! So I was really challenged! But I do like this one :)

lovely as a … leaf???

Well, this one was totally different from anything I was expecting!! You set the challenge to use Lovely as a Tree, and you expect everyone to use the row of trees, or the Christmas looking tree. But no! This card uses another image, that I have to say I tend to gloss over!! And how awesome do these colours look?? It’s tangerine tango with Chocolate Chip and vanilla (ooh, that sounds delicious!! now I’m hungry!!)

Lovely Christmas Trees

This is the second swap card using Lovely as a Tree. This also uses Ski Slope DSP – i adore that stuff! It’s so Christmassy!

More Lovely as a Tree

A couple of demos and I are doing a monthly swap. We choose a technique and a stamp set, and have to create cards using those. This month the stamp set was Lovely as a tree (my choice, coz I wanted to share the sparkly cards!!) and the technique was Split Negative.

Here is one of the cards I received – I will share the rest over the next few days. 

This also uses the level one hostess set “best yet” – I love that set! i use it all the time in workshops. it has such a variety of sentiments. I also love these colours – not traditional Christmas colours, but they work :)

Fifth Avenue Swap

This card aslo uses Fifth Avenue Floral, but it uses the whole set this time. This is the last swap I received from Regionals (if it's yours, please let me know)
I love how the bottom is scalloped using the scallop edge punch - I never think to do stuff like that!! (it's hard to see in the pic, but it is there!!)

Lovely Tree swap

This is - yet again - another swap from Regionals. This one is from Sharlene - LOVE THOSE TREES!! Lovely as a Tree is such a versatile set - Christmas, masculaine, sympathy - any occasion really.

Swirly Friends

This is such a lovely colour – doesn’t show up very well on here. This uses DSP, and Priceless and Oval All. Oval All fits perfectly with the oval punches, and the scallop oval and the set are only available for a limited time now – the mini ends on 30th November.]

EDITED: I thought I had written on here that this was a swap - but no! Sorry to whoever made this! I did a whole heap of posts at once, and must have forgotten on this one. This was another swap from regionals. In asnwer to the questions - I think it is rose red, and the DSP has the same patterns from this year, but not this colour, which again leads me to thnk it's rose red. If this is yours, please enlighten us :)

Swaps in return

This is one of the swaps I got in return – from Kathy McInnes. Kathy was a brand new demo, don’t think she even had her kit yet, and as a scrapbooker had minimum stamps. So she used the hostess set she had earned in her recent workshop, and borrowed the cardstock form someone else, and came up with this little beauty! Isn’t it gorgeous? This uses the Level 1 hostess set “live like you mean it”

Lovely as a Sparkly Tree

 

This is a card that Sharlene originally did, that I showed my Stamp Club last month, and they LOVED it! In real life it is the most sparkly gorgeous card. Dazzling Diamonds are such an easy way to add bling to a card – and they go for miles! I have made about 12 of the these cards, and still have nearly half a pot left. Bargain bling!! lol

ok.. so I think I finally got my blogger issues sorted!
My computer and blogger do NOT seem to like each other, and I was seriously considering moving to typepad or some other such thing. BUT all the blogs I read are on blogger, so it wouldn't actually fix my problem anyway!!

This is a card I have been thinking about for ages, since seeing the cute dress cards Patty made with the big scallop circle in the big shot. But I don't have the big shot, but still wanted to make the dresses, so thought I'd do a smaller version using the scallop circle punch.
I CASE'd this card by Heather, my SBS sister for the layout - such a cool layout actually and one I will be using again.

swap cards

In one of my first posts, I told you about a swap I was doing - the biggest swap ever - all international - and I got my two swaps from the Netherlands the other day :) The theme was summer or flowers, and I think these two cards are very summery in flavour :)

These cards are from two very talented ladies.

This one is from Margot Zwegers in the the south of the Netherlands. Thanks Margot - I love orange and green together :) Sounds like such an odd combination, but looks so good :)

And this one is from Inge Groot, who I am sooooo jealous of!! Look at that colouring!! It's amazing!! And I love Matilda's. They are so girly :) Unlike me!!

second time lucky!

Ok, so my first "thanks a latte" card was not exactly how I wanted it to be. Luckily, the other day I had the perfect opportunity to have another go!

I work in a primary school, and part of my job is to keep the staff room stocked with milk, tea, coffee etc. (really important job - have you SEEN a primary school teacher who hasn't had her morning coffee??? Not a pretty sight!) So, anyway, this particular day, HORROR!!!! No coffee!!!! So we had to run over to the kindy next door and grab some of theirs (phew! thank goodness kindy teachers aren't so dependent on their caffeine - must be coz they get to play with playdough all day!! Who needs caffeine when you can pound your frustrations out??)

So, anyway, as a thank you, when I reapklced their coffee, I made this card. And I think it's a lot better than my first effort! (Sorry Sonia!! I'll make you another one day!)

So, still simple, coz that's how I like 'em, but a major improvement!

hmm... second thoughts

You know that feeling you get when you KNOW you could have done better, but you are SO over it you just shove it in the envelope and move on? Well, that is how I feel about that last card. I love the stamps, I love the colours, but it is so wrong on so many levels :) But I was in a major hurry, (like 5 minutes!! - yeah, i know all you seasoned stampers could get 5 or 6 cards done in that time! - it takes me that long to fold the cardstock!!)

So anyway, I decided to ease my suffering and went to SCS so that next time I will have a layout up my sleeve for a quickie :)

This one however, I have no such thoughts about :) I love it! I know it is simple, and for that reason some people will dismiss it, but I like simple. I went to a stamp camp here hosted by Stamp Effects from Auckland, and we did 20 cards in a day. This was my favourite by far. I will post the others on different posts later on :) I can't give the recipe coz everything was supplied by them.

It's a bit blurry, but this card idea I got from a blog I visited, and I thought I had it saved but my favourites obviously aren't as well-labelled as I thought! So I am very sorry to the person whose idea I used but I loved it! Her card was way better too but my paper supply was limited!!

When I find it again, I will post here whose it is :)

Finally a card - i hope!

Ok ..... finally I think I have it.

Here is a picture of a card I did for a colleague who finished her degree last year, but graduation isn't until May (weird, I know!). Actually, this isn't it. Hers had red accents, but my camera wasn't being very nice that day, so this one is one I was asked to do for the niece of another colleague who saw that first one, and wanted it too!! The layout for this kind of came from the very talented Dorothy who takes the cardmaking classes at my LSS. Hers was a wedding card with lace and all sorts all over it (she is very into lace!) but I'm not, so mine is very plain. I still giggle at my little pun though "Con-GRAD-ulations" !! Well, my ten year old thought it was hilarious! Most people just think it's cute - which of course it is :)
