NZSU blog challenge

another challenge on the NZSU blog - this time for a cami trifold card, from this tutorial on splitcoaststampers.

I had a pack of afternoon tea paper out from making up the sample for my stationery box class coming up soon (contact me if you want to join us!) - so I decided to use that as my base. Then realised that probably wouldn't be strong enough, so grabbed the nearest colour that went with it, and wild wasabi was it!
I also don't own the slit punch (I KNOW!!! how do I cope?? well, I'm telling you it's next on my list - however (digression ahead!) - it bugs me, because the main reason I wanted it to start with was to make matchbook fold cards, where you fold the bottom bit up, and use it to tuck the bit in, but it is the wrong way round, and that made me mad!! So I have avoided it. I am over it now. My therapist says I am doing a LOT better ;) ) so, anyway...... I used the horizontal slit punch instead, and if I do say so myself - I like it! :)

This uses Live your Dream, which is one of the Bushfire Appeal sets at the moment. This generated a LOT of discussion this afternoon at $3 cards, as some of my customers tried to work out if it would be in the new catalogue, as it didn't have an asterisk next to it, but it DID specify that it was in the summer mini! phew, too complicated!

Personally, I hope it sticks around - we got it free at regionals, and I was gutted, coz I didn't like it! Now, it is one of the first sets I reach for! :) Funny how that happens.

woohoo my first challenge!!

woohoo!! I finally did it!! I ALWAYS check out Kristina's blog - she is such an amazingly talented lady -but up until now, I have just stalked, and drooled over everyone else's creations. But one of goals this year is step outside my comfort zone, and actually create more stuff, and trust in my own ideas! So, here is my first ever kwernerdesign.com inspiration colour challenge entry.

I am really happy with it, for a few reasons! 1) I know it is simple, but I like simple! 2) Its all mine!! 3) i got out of my comfort zone 4) i know next time I will do better! 5) there will be a next time!

I used the set Live your Dream from the Summer mini, with a chocolate chip base, pumpkin pie mat, then used pumpkin and old olive markers on whisper white for the flowers, pumpkin "thanks" and added a soft sky ribbon (don't have baja breeze here, and that looked the closest to me!) 'scuse the quality of the pic - I scanned it, and my computer does NOT like that!! that ribbon is the grosgrain double stitched, but it looks weird! and the "distressing" is not intentional - I need a new blade in my cutter, but do you think I can find the spare???

Gift card holder

This is from understandblue and is almost an exact copy - except different stamps and paper!!

It is a gift card holder that can fit a .... well, a gift card!! Duh!! you know the credit card type ones?? yeah, well, those!

This one used dashing DSP as the tree, and the bird is from live the dream.

Regional training

yes, I know these are so out of order and so late, but I am posting in the order that the pictures showed up on my computer!

Regional training was held in New Pymouth in September, and we all got a free stamp set - Live your dream. It's in the new summer mini - and we got to play with it :)

Here is the card we made.

It also uses afternoon tea DSP - also in the new mini. These are available from 1 December to 31 March 2009. Let me know if you want to see a catalogue.

by the way - that ribbon does NOT sit like that in real life!! I donlt know WHY it looks like that!! It sits flat to the paper - and this bugs me, because my ribbon normally looks skewiff and weird, but this one turned out ok!! Typical that i can't get it on camera!
